Meet the Crew
Stephen Pappas-Technical Director/Editor/Colorist
Stephen Pappas has more than 15 years experience in television, film, and documentaries on a path that he feels has been truly guided by the Lord. He started his career when the military sent him to school in Hollywood at the Sony Institute for Video Production to be a communication engineer. Steve worked for several years for the Air National Guard producing award winning documentaries and films. Then he spent six years as the media director at a church where he did many local documentaries, music videos, and a weekly award-winning television broadcast. It was there that Steve met George Escobar and became connected with Advent Film Group, subsequently serving as the Technical Director for the films Come What May and One Good Man.
James Burgess-B Camera Operator
James Burgess is an award-winning cinematographer, editor and director with 30 years experience in the motion picture industry. His most recent project as a Director of Photography was on The Widow’s Might, which won “Best of Festival” award at the 2009 San Antionio Independent Christian Film Festival. Other films include Pilgrim’s Progress, Rising Stars, The Treasure Principle, and Escape from Hell. Mr. Burgess has a Bachelor of Science Degree in Cinema and finds his work on life-affirming, faith-based films the most rewarding and fulfilling of his career.

Rob Miller-Baseball Coordinator
As co-founder and CEO of ReelSports, Rob works not only in film but in many forms of entertainment, including television, live events, and digital media. Besides assisting in training the actors and coordinating scenes, he helps with accuracy and continuity issues. Sometimes, he will even help with the script in order to make sure that all the athletics are as true to life as possible. Rob and the ReelSports team have partnered on dozens of films and television projects, and the collaborative work has been honored with multiple accolades including “Best Action” for internation blockbuster Chak De India and “Sports movie of the year” for Miracle. His live event experience covers four Olympic Games, including NBC’s award winning digital broadcast of the 2000 Olympics in Syndey, Australia.
Robert Cook-Behind the Scenes Producer and Director
As an Air Force mechanic, fire fighter, and homeschool dad, Robert Cook has learned to execute demanding tasks under rigorous pressure. Although he has dabbled in movies since he was a kid, not until the last several years has he been able to engage fully in the movie business. Robert’s documentary The Civil War: A Reenactor’s Golden Moment took second place at the Oklahoma State University Film Festival.
Paul Munger-Extras Casting Director/Homeschool Liason
Like so many others, Paul Munger was inspired by the San Antonio Independent Christian Film Festival to make his own movies. One of his projects is an educational resource for sale from Piedmont Educational Services. Another of his films, Animals from the Bible, took runner-up at SAICFF in the Creation Documentary category. Paul originally joined the One Good Man team as the Homeschool Liason because of his connections with the local homeschool group. Eventually, he became the Extras Casting Director, finding over a hundred background actors.
Natalie Emmons-Catering Supervisor
At only 18 years of age, Natalie is the youngest department head in the production. However, she arguably has the most important job of anyone—feeding the cast and crew. Her two sisters have worked on the either the cast or crew of other productions, including Advent Film Group’s Come What May, but she has never desired to do so. Her passion has always been cooking. She decided to work on One Good Man because she hopes to one day cater professionally or open a restaurant; and, cooking for 70 people on set is good practice. Although she admits that the logistics of such a task are a little more difficult than she anticipated, she hasn’t let the challenge get her down.
Frank Gibson-Unit Production Manager
By his own admission, Frank Gibson is “like the set psychologist.” As the person who creates the budget, hires the crew, and manages the payroll, Frank says that crew members come to him with their problems and he tries to comfort them and tell them everything will be alright. After finishing film school, Frank has mostly worked in reality TV. This film set, with so many students, has been enjoyable because he likes seeing “fresh people” and a “learning atmosphere.”
